Berman & Simmons, P.A., a leading personal injury law firm based in Lewiston, Maine, is seeking a Full Time Trial Attorney to join our esteemed Personal Injury Group. In this role, you will have the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of our clients by representing them in personal injury cases.

Berman & Simmons attorneys are knowledgeable, trusted legal experts, elected as Fellows of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, and serving on the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Association for Justice, the Maine State Bar Association, and the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. We have won some of the largest and most controversial medical malpractice and personal injury verdicts in Maine history and have achieved a long history of trial success. As powerful advocates for civil justice, we are dedicated to fighting tirelessly on behalf of those who have been injured through no fault of their own, and winning high-stakes, complex cases where our team’s expertise and unmatched skills make all the difference.

As a Trial Attorney, you will have the opportunity to utilize your exceptional negotiation and litigation skills while working alongside this team of experienced and respected attorneys. You will have the chance to handle a diverse caseload, take depositions, argue motions, and represent clients in court trials. This position will allow you to collaborate with an energetic and supportive team, all driven by our core values of integrity, dedication, and excellence.

At Berman & Simmons, P.A., we are committed to providing our attorneys with a stimulating and rewarding work environment. Enhanced by our supportive company culture, this position promises a fulfilling professional journey. We offer a competitive salary that reflects your experience and skills. You will have benefits such as Medical, Dental, 401(k), Life and Disability Insurances, Health Savings Account, Parental Leave, and Unlimited Paid Time Off.

To excel in this position, you will need to possess several key skills and qualifications. First and foremost, a strong background in personal injury law is essential - a minimum of three years' experience is preferred, along with a Juris Doctor degree, and admission to and good standing with the Maine state bar. You must have exceptional litigation and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for our clients both in and out of the courtroom. Attention to detail, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to think critically are crucial in building strong cases and crafting persuasive arguments. Proficiency in legal research software and tools, such as Westlaw, is required to conduct thorough legal research and stay current with relevant laws and precedents. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also essential for drafting legal documents and communicating with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel.

At Berman & Simmons, P.A., we value attorneys who are highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage a caseload efficiently. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team is also vital in our supportive and collaborative company culture.
