Description
The Allegheny County Bar Foundation Juvenile Court Project is accepting applications for the position of Parent Advocate Attorney. The Juvenile Court Project is a law office that represents indigent parents in dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings in Allegheny County.
A law degree from an ABA accredited law school and active license to practice law in Pennsylvania are required. Courtroom experience and prior family law practice are strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will provide legal representation to indigent clients in dependency proceedings in front of judges and hearing officers in Allegheny County Juvenile Court.
The Parent Advocate will be responsible for:
conducting investigations
researching and preparing pleadings providing representation at hearings,
providing sound counsel to clients
maintaining organized client case files.
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.
Requirements
Position requires in-office work and in-person appearances at court proceedings and meetings but does allow for 1-2 days of remote work per week based on court scheduling and office needs.
